Recently, Sun Jianming, a researcher and Wu Bin, a senior engineer at Dalian Huixin Titanium Equipment Development Co., Ltd., and a research group from the Institute of Oceanography have obtained three new international (Dutch) invention patents, namely "a bottom sewage device for a rotating shrimp pond with adjustable pores", "a device and method for removing pollutants and preventing live shrimp from escaping in a circulating water shrimp farming system", and "a method for estimating body length and weight based on shrimp eyeball diameter".

During the aquaculture process, the constant molting of shrimp is the biggest difference between shrimp farming with recycled water and fish farming with recycled water. Circulating water aquaculture usually sets up anti escape nets at the return water outlet. Due to the similar size and proportion of live shrimp, shrimp shells, and dead shrimp, previous circulating water aquaculture equipment could not remove shrimp shells and dead shrimp from the aquaculture pool in real time while preventing live shrimp from escaping, resulting in a large number of shrimp shells and dead shrimp remaining at the bottom of the pool, causing blockage of the anti escape net at the return water outlet and easy spread and outbreak of shrimp diseases in the pool. Preventing escape of live shrimp and real-time removal of dead shrimp shells are key technologies for the success of high-density circulating water aquaculture. The research team has successfully overcome the bottleneck problem of circular water aquaculture in shrimp farming using the equipment and devices developed with invention patents 1 and 2, reversing the traditional perception that circular water aquaculture technology is not suitable for shrimp farming, and creating a new situation for circular water aquaculture in shrimp farming.

Feeding is an important process in aquaculture, and the main basis for adjusting the feeding amount is the length, weight, and individual quantity of shrimp. Therefore, accurate estimation of biomass is a key technology for precise feeding, as well as the foundation for the normal growth of shrimp, improving feed utilization efficiency, and preventing water quality deterioration. A method for estimating body length and weight based on the diameter of shrimp eyeballs has innovatively proposed a method for estimating shrimp biomass using the number and diameter of eyeballs. Image recognition technology is used to distinguish the number and diameter of shrimp eyeballs, thereby estimating the total biomass of shrimp in aquaculture ponds, laying the foundation for intelligent and accurate feeding.

At present, the team has achieved planned, stable, and continuous production in the large-scale production of Vannamei shrimp in circular aquaculture, with a yield of over 13kg/m3. The research and development of these key technologies and equipment are of great significance for promoting the development of China's shrimp circular aquaculture industry.
