Recently, researcher Sun Jianming and Wu Bin from Dalian HuiXin Titanium Equipment Development Co., Ltd.,and the research group from the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, have been granted three new international (Netherlands) invention patents. These patents include "Adjustable Porous Bottom Drainage Device for Disc-Type Shrimp tanks," "Device and Method for Removing Dirt and Preventing Shrimp Escaping in Shrimp RAS," and "Method for Estimating Shrimp Length and Weight Based on Eyeball Diameter."

In the process of shrimp farming, the continuous molting of shrimp is the most significant difference betweenshrimp and fish farming. To prevent shrimp from escaping, a protective net is usually set at the water return outlet of shrimpRAS. However, due to the similar size and density of live shrimp, shrimp shells, and dead shrimp, traditional recirculating water farming equipment could not effectively remove shrimp shells and dead shrimp from the pond in real time without allowing live shrimp to escape. This resulted in accumulation of shrimp shells and dead shrimp at the bottom of the tank, leading to clogs in the protective net and potential outbreak of shrimp diseases. Preventing shrimp escape and realtime removal of shrimp shells

and dead shrimp are crucial for the success of highdensity shrimp farming. The research team successfully overcame the challenges of recirculating water shrimp farming using the devices and methods developed through the first two patents. This breakthrough challenges the conventional belief that recirculating water farming technology is not suitable for shrimp farming, creating a new era for recirculating water shrimp farming.

Feeding is a critical aspect of aquaculture, and adjusting the feeding amount is primarily based on shrimp length, weight, and population. Therefore, accurate estimation of biomass is a key technology for precise feeding, as well as for normal shrimp growth, improved feed utilization, and prevention of water quality deterioration. The method "Method for Estimating Shrimp Length and Weight Based on Eyeball Diameter"introduces an innovative approach to estimate shrimp biomass using eyeball quantity and diameter through image recognition technology, laying the foundation for intelligent and precise feeding.

Currently, the team has achieved planned, stable, and continuous production in the largescale recirculating water farming of Vannamei shrimp, with a yield of over 13 kg/m³. The development of these key technologies and equipment holds significant importance for advancing the development of our RAS shrimp farming industry.
